How to Add Media to your site
Before beginning, we recommend that you read the tips on Media Standards and Principles section later in this documentation.
Expand the MEDIA WORKFLOW section(if it is not already expanded), and click on 'New Media'. This will open the 'New Media' properties screen. From here you must fill in all of the red fields, black fields are optional.
- Title - The title attribute of the image in the page, which is displayed when you hover over the image in many browsers and is looked at by search engines.
- Media Type - Depending on your available templates, this may affect how the media is rendered. Select the option that best describes the type of file you are uploading.
- Source - Used strictly to help keep track of available assets.
- Categories - Where the image is located on the site. If the image is related to multiple categories, then it will be placed in multiple places on the site.
- Priority - This field does not generally affect media. This will usually just be set to 'Normal'.
- Cover Date - This field does not generally affect media.
- File - This allows you to browse to the file on your computer and select it for upload to the CMS.
NOTE: The name of the file indicated here will be the name of the file when it is placed on the web site. Please ensure you are using good web standards for your file naming convention. This means using only lowercase letters, numbers, dashes (-), and underscores (_).
Click the
button to transition to the 'Edit Media' interface. At this point, the media has been created and added to the site. It can be referenced and published from within the CMS. For information about what you can do from this screen, please see the 'How to edit existing media' page.
